Hull Fair – A Classic Treat
Hull Fair is back from Friday 10 October to Saturday 18 October (note it is closed on the Sunday), and it’s bigger and brighter than ever! One of Europe’s largest travelling fairs, it has over 250 rides, traditional favourites, and more than 100 stalls with games and fairground food. From dodgems and waltzers to trampolines and mini rides for little ones, there’s something for every thrill-seeker. Don’t miss the opening ceremony on Friday 10 October at 4pm, led by the Lord Mayor of Kingston Upon Hull. This is a free entry event (rides all charge), no tickets required.

Haunted History and Halloween Fun
East Yorkshire loves to celebrate Halloween, from ghost tours to spooky theatre performances:
• Burton Constable Hall offers a Blindfold Halloween Performance & Ghost Tour on 30th & 31st October, tickets £25. Enjoy a guided ghost tour before settling in for an immersive theatre piece by BAFTA-nominated writer Tom Needham. Book here.
• Halloween Outdoor Cinema – Watch Halloween classics under the stars on 25th October. Hocus Pocus at 4.45pm and The Lost Boys at 8pm. Book here.
• Half-Term Fun at Burton Constable – From 27th to 30th October, children can help the Witches’ Tree by collecting letters and solving the mystery word to restore Halloween magic. Details here.
• Witchy Mayhem on 31st October – More Halloween adventure for young explorers to break the Halloween spell and restore ancient charms. Find out more here.
• Fort Paull’s Fort Fright Night – Kids’ activities during the day, followed by scary fun in the evening. Plus, try a ghost hunt around the Fort! Tickets via fortpaull.org.
Ghost Walks and History Tours
For those who love a little chill down the spine:
• Hornsea Phantom Footsteps – Halloween special on 29th October at 6.30pm. Explore historic cemeteries and eerie streets. Tickets here.
• Beverley After Dark – Friday 31st October, 7-9pm. Hear stories of phantom pigs, witches, and more on this immersive tour through Beverley’s haunted streets. Family-friendly but with spooky themes. Tickets here.
• Hull Fright Night Ghost Stories – Saturday 1st November, 6pm, includes a grazing board. Tickets £20 from here.
Halloween Parties and Family Fun
• Hornsea: Rose & Crown hosts a kids’ party on 31st October, 5-7.30pm. Lucien’s throws a 90s-themed party from 8pm with DJ Roger and cocktail specials. (Fancy dress encouraged at both events)
