Tail-Wagging Adventures: Dog-Friendly Things to Do in East Yorkshire
Hit the Beach
The East Yorkshire coast is a real treat for dogs and their owners. Withernsea and Hornsea both offer stretches of beach where dogs are welcome all year round. Do bear in mind that during the summer months (May to October) some sections of the beach have seasonal restrictions. There’s plenty of unrestricted shoreline to enjoy whatever the season, and most dogs are absolutely in their element with the sea air and open space. Other popular beaches for dog walkers all year round include Fraisthorpe between Hornsea and Bridlington, Mappleton between Hornsea and Aldbrough and Easington south of Patrington.

Hornsea Mere
Just a short walk from the town centre, Hornsea Mere is the largest freshwater lake in Yorkshire and a peaceful spot for a stroll with your dog. The paths around the mere offer lovely views across the water, plenty of wildlife to sniff out, and a real sense of calm away from the bustle. It’s an easy, flat walk that suits dogs (and owners!) of all ages and fitness levels.

Country Walks Around Paull
For something a little different, the quiet village of Paull on the north bank of the Humber is a hidden gem. The surrounding countryside offers lovely rural walking, but the real highlight is watching the Humber ferries come and go. There’s something quietly magical about standing on the bank with your dog as these enormous vessels glide past. It’s a unique and very free experience.
Dog Agility at Patrington Haven
If your dog has energy to burn, our guests staying at Patrington Haven Leisure Park can test their agility skills in the onsite dog field with agility course. It’s a brilliant way to give your dog a mind and body workout! Enjoy a refreshing drink or bite to eat in the undercover outdoor dog friendly area at the Country Club on site as a treat afterwards.
