Two brilliant new reasons to visit Hornsea this summer

A Walk Through Time: The Viaduct Photography Installation
Officially opened on Monday 27th May, this new installation runs beneath the Trans Pennine Trail Viaduct Bridge, the popular footpath that links Tranmere Park with Hornsea Burton Road. If you've ever walked that route, you'll now have an extra reason to stop and linger.
The installation features a wonderful mix of recent and historic photography celebrating Hornsea through the years, a real love letter to the town. It's the kind of thing that gets locals talking and visitors curious. It's lovely to see the heritage of this place celebrated so beautifully in such a natural, accessible setting.
You can find it at what3words: ///tripods.papers.constrain — perfect for popping into your phone before you head out.
It's free, it's outdoors, and it's well worth building into a walk along the trail or to the seafront. We particularly like the overhead images from the past to the present which show how much the town has expanded over the years.

Hunt the Starfish: The Starfish Galaxy Sculpture Trail
Also new to Hornsea this year is the Starfish Galaxy Sculpture Trail, a brilliant community art project organised by the Hornsea Collective. A series of large, eye-catching starfish sculptures, each one individually designed and painted by a local artist have popped up at 6 locations across Hornsea.
The trail launched on May 2nd 2026 and it's already got people of all ages out exploring. Each starfish is unique, and the artists behind them have poured real thought and love into their designs. The themes range from sustainability and coastal conservation to pure celebration of this stretch of coastline.
It's free to follow, it's family-friendly, and it's a great excuse to wander around parts of Hornsea you might not otherwise discover. You can grab the trail map and find out more about the artists and the project at www.starfishgalaxy.co.uk there is also a competition to design your own starfish with all designs going into a monthly prize draw! Paper maps / entries can be picked up from Number Nine in Hornsea Market Place, Hornsea Village reception, Hornsea Museum, and Hornsea Floral Hall Cafe. A further two phases are planned over the next year so eventually there will be 18 to spot!

Make a Weekend of It
Both of these are exactly the kind of thing that makes a short break feel special, a bit of fresh air, a bit of culture, and something the kids (and honestly, the grown-ups) will genuinely remember.
If you fancy making a proper trip of it, we have holiday properties right here in Hornsea as well as across East Yorkshire, so you're never far from the coast. Take a look at what's available and we'll help you find the perfect base.
After all, we know this part of the world pretty well and we think it's pretty special.
